Muzeiko is Bulgaria's first interactive children's science and discovery museum, with more than 130 hands-on exhibits across three floors, a maker space, and a planetarium, roughly aimed at ages 0-12. It doesn't appear on any other Hello Sofia page, and it's a genuinely strong fit for a family day.

Parks Worth Knowing About
Borisova Gradina is Sofia's largest park, with playgrounds and cycling paths spread across a genuinely large green space. Kids Ride Free: The Rule That Actually Matters
Children under 7 ride Sofia public transport free, including the metro, with no advance step needed. Children aged 7-14 also ride free, but need a free photo e-pass issued by the Center for Urban Mobility (Sofia Urban Mobility Centre), which requires proof of the child's age and a parent's Sofia address registration to obtain.
For visiting families without a Sofia address, that second requirement matters: the 7-14 e-pass isn't something you can arrange without local documentation, so budget for a normal ticket in that age band unless you already qualify. Attractions That Genuinely Suit a Trip With Kids
The mountain above Sofia is close to the city and outdoor, a genuine fit for a family day. The UNESCO-listed Boyana Church is close and has ramp access, per Accessible Sofia's findings. The UNESCO-listed Rila Monastery has no regular public bus and is a full-day commitment even for adults, a demanding combination with young kids.
